AEROSMITH Bassist Says U.S. Tour Will Not Be Affected By JOE PERRY's Injury

AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton has confirmed that the band's previously announced U.S. tour — which is scheduled to begin on July 23 in Oakland, California — will not be affected by the injury AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry sustained last week in a motorcycle accident. Speaking to Boston's Fox 25 News (WFXT) prior to throwing out the first pitch this past Friday night (July 16) at Fenway Park in Boston as the Boston Red Sox took on the Texas Rangers, Hamilton said of Perry, "He's doing good. He's a bit sore today, but he's well, and we're looking forward to heading out to the West Coast Wednesday to start doing some touring in the States."

Perry was injured in a motorcycle accident on Thursday afternoon (July 15) in Massachusetts, according to PatriotLedger.com. Perry was riding east on his motorcycle around 2:00 p.m. when he stopped for a red light at the intersection of routes 44 and 105. He was rear-ended by a 2001 Chevy Malibu and taken to Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton, Massachusetts where he was treated for his injuries and released at 4:30 p.m.

The driver of the car, 62-year-old Linda O'Brien of Middleboro, Massachusetts was cited for following a vehicle too closely.

The extent of Perry's injuries was not revealed.

Perry has suffered from knee pain for years and had a total knee replacement operation in 2008.
